As thoughts turn to what to do this summer, it seems more and more of us want to do something else and try something new. Whether it is skydiving, travelling the world or white water rafting, we all have bucket list of must ‘try before you die’ activities.

But just how do you get started in ticking off your bucket list? If lack of time, money or inspiration is holding you back, then listen to our bucket list podcast with Dan Hipgrave, musician and travel writer and Darleen Federoshyn from Travel Alberta.

They will be discussing a new poll into the nation’s top adventurous pastimes we should try before we die, which has revealed hot air ballooning as our number one.

Second on the list was skiing, with white water rafting third, while rounding out the top five were snowboarding and mountain climbing. Whatever the experience, the poll has revealed that over two thirds of us are keen to experience something new and try something different, no matter how old we are.

But despite our enthusiasm for these things we are all too quick to come up with some excuses. When asked why they hadn’t tried any of these activities before two thirds said money had stopped them in the past, while a quarter said they had no one to do them with and a fifth were too scared.

That’s despite the fact a fifth of those surveyed for the study by Travel Alberta say that one of the major influences when booking a holiday is being able to do something exhilarating when away and one of four of us want to learn something new.

To have a good holiday, nearly a third of Brits say doing something they thought they wouldn’t be able to do is key.

So just how can we put aside our fears and excuses and start making the most of our holidays, not to mention ticking off that all important ‘try before you die’ list?

Here to discuss in this travel podcast are travel journalist and musician Dan Hipgrave who has travelled the globe for all sorts of reasons and Darleen Federoshyn from Travel Alberta.
